Is it necessary to patch JA2 vanilla before installing Stracciatella?

If you don't own a JA2 that is already shipped to the latest official version, take note. It is not absolutely necessary to patch to the latest one, however it is strongly suggested. While you won't be using the same engine, the patches also fixed data bugs that we cannot address.

ALT+Left-Click doesn't work on Linux and Mac OS X

The operating system intercepts this combination and it doesn't reach the program. This behaviour can be changed on Linux, but not on Mac OS X unfortunately.

On Ubuntu 10.04 go to System -> Preferences -> Windows and select Movement Key = Super (or "Windows logo").

I want to change the config file, say game.json. Where should I put them?

You can put the edited files in ~/.ja2/data (on Mac and Linux) or Documents\JA2\data (on Windows).

Stracciatella uses a Virtual File System (VFS), so you can put the files on any of the recognized locations and they will override the defaults. Note that if you have also enabled mods, the contents in the mods will take precedence.
