There are certain things needed to properly lead a release such as:

  • Be an admin in the vitessio org
  • Have write access to vitess-operator
  • Have Java installed and working
  • Have vitess and vitess-operator cloned in the same directory

We should add some kind of warning or step to inform releasers of these.
