Problems with .rustup\tmp ..again

It tries to copy files but fails. Already disabled rust-analyzer etc

I expect there will be an actual error higher up; that bk source directory is the backup, not the original extraction path.

As the (failed) update process was taking too long, I just reinstalled, but that's less than ideal.

Looks like it has something to do with file exclusivity on Windows 🤔

This is problably #988 again, under the hood. The error message you have truncated does not show the actual error - it shows the cascaded error when the transactional logic failed during rollback.

Thank you. 'error failed to install component' - thats the underlying problem, which is indeed #988.

The permission failed deleting the tmp dir is likely still #3465 unresolved. I don't see other reports like that, which leaves me thinking there is some edge case there. Lets keep troubleshooting that one on that ticket. This one can be closed as a duplicate.
