Goals

Timeline

  1. Start an Organization Register project as a GitHub repository.
  2. In that repository, create a list of organisation descriptions:
    • based on the current data in the Dataset Register
    • in Schema.org, as we currently require
    • manage this as a Git repository because that is transparent, allows proposed changed but still control over the data (via pull requests).
  3. Change the Dataset Requirements to require only a publisher/creator URI from the authoritative list.
    • ContactPoint etc. can then become optional, in case a dataset has a ContactPoint different from the publishing organisation (e.g. some department or team within the organisation.
  4. Require organisations to publish their own dataset description (TBD).
    • For each organisation that manages to do this, remove their entry from the Git repository (from step 2).
  5. Harvest the organisation descriptions from both the NDE Git repository and the organisation websites, make them available in a SPARQL endpoint.
  6. Add that SPARQL endpoint as a value list to the Network of Terms.
