You can't merge golden and silver nuggets in the sector inventory.

When we go down to the mine, we can find a lot of golden or silver nuggets depends on the localization of the mine. But we can't merge them directly in the sector inventory. We have to move all of them one by one to the merc inventory and merge them there.

In the merc inventory you can merge them freely.
