This is just the semantic naming changes of #1672 which should make it simpler for people to override styling to their preferences using browser plugins like Stylus. As far as I know, this will not result in any user-visible changes in either light or dark mode, but will give a user a clean list of CSS variables to tweak specifically for the sidebar.
